What our clients say about Claire

About Claire
Claire completed her four year Law and Philosophy degree at the University of Essex. She was actively involved with the University’s Law Society, and also worked at the University’s advice centre, assisting fellow students with a range of matters, including those connected to landlord and tenant issues and also visa application. She also worked at the Legal Centre, taking instructions from and advising a non-university clients.
Following completion of her degree, she completed her LPC at the College of Law. She undertook the Legal Aid route, and worked at the Law Centre at the College, advising and taking instructions from a member of the public regarding an employment matter. She also volunteered with Victim Support, and provided practical and emotional support to victims of crime.
After Claire completed her LPC, she worked for two busy criminal defence firms in London. She assisted on a range of both Magistrates’ Court and Crown Court matters, liaising with clients and preparing matters for Trial. She also became an accredited Police Station Representative, advising clients at Police Stations on a range of matters, including theft, drug offences and sexual assault. Claire subsequently dealt with conveyancing matters for a multinational company as part of their in-house conveyancing law firm, gaining a wide range of experience of the conveyancing procedures from a lender’s perspective.
Claire joined DC Kaye & Co in 2012 as a Trainee Solicitor, and qualified as a solicitor in 2013. During her time with DC Kaye & Co, she has worked in our firm's litigation department which covers a broad range of matters (please see details below). Her previous experiences means that nothing phases Claire and she is always prepared for any problem a client may have.
Claire has gained a special interest in property and boundary disputes, having successfully aided clients in defending claims made against them. Claire understands that litigation matters can be very stressful and she seeks to make it as clear and pain free as possible, by explaining each stage of proceedings so that her clients know what to expect so that they are fully prepared for each stage. Claire has good relationships with barristers who are instructed in some matters, which continue to ensure excellent service to clients at difficult times. Claire is pragmatic and thinks outside of the box for alternative solutions to a matter so as to seek to secure a satisfactory and prompt outcome for her clients where possible.
Claire’s services
Claire advises on a wide range of matters. She assists both employers and employees both before and after the termination of an employee’s employment. She regularly advises clients on Settlement Agreements (formerly known as Compromise Agreements) and when an employment relationship ends badly and a claim is made in the Employment Tribunal.

She advises and assists clients in bringing and defending money claims ranging from small claim matters with claims of a monetary value of less than £1,000.00 to larger value claims in excess of £300,000.00. The same level of service and dedication is provided by Claire to all clients, irrespective of the value of their claim. Where possible, she is willing to consider agreeing fees with clients to ensure that they can make informed choices as to how to proceed, particularly in small claims matters where costs are not recoverable by the successful party.
Claire advises clients on a range of criminal matters, including driving offences and assault. Many of her clients have no experience with the Criminal Justice system, and she is aware how intimidating a Police Station and Magistrates’ Court can be. She provides an overview as to what a client can expect during a Police Station interview, of which she has previous experience of, and the possible outcomes of allegations levelled against clients by the Police. Although our firm is not franchised to provide criminal advice and representation under a Legal Aid contract, Claire is willing to agree fees in advance with clients for attendance at Police Stations and Court.
Claire provides advice to commercial clients, by drafting contracts and agreements, including shareholders’ agreements and an agreement for the sale of a business. Claire understands the importance that her clients need to be as fully protected as possible to ensure issues of liability are fully transferred to the new party and that such transactions can be sensitive.
Claire advises clients on a range of both residential and commercial landlord and tenant matters. She is instructed by both landlord and tenants alike, and she provides the best possible advice and options available to her clients.
Claire is also instructed in contentious probate matters. She appreciates that following a bereavement, a litigation is the last thing that someone wishes to do. However, in some instances, it is necessary to embark on such a course of action in order to protect the deceased estate or to right a wrong on the part of a beneficiary.

Claire kept me informed of all developments at every stage. This isn’t the first time that I have used DC Kaye and I have since recommended the company and indeed to Claire to others. I was amazed at how much Claire listened to what I had said on a previous occasions and reflected upon that on a more recent visit. This is very much attention to detail and for me very important. It was pain free and stress free during a difficult and challenging time for both occasions and for very different reasons. (MG)
