Speeding

Speeding offences may result in a range of sentences from penalty points on your licence to driving disqualifications and fines. The sentences will be more severe depending on how fast you are accused of travelling in the speed restricted area – for example, you are more likely to be disqualified if you are travelling more than 51mph in a 30mph restricted road.

It is important to take advice early if you are stopped at the roadside or if you have received a Notice of Intended Prosecution or postal summons to appear in Court. We can advise you whether the correct procedure has been followed by the police, whether you may have a defence and, if not, what your options are to try to reduce the sentence that will be imposed.
