The criminal justice system, court procedure

You might be charged with a criminal offence that is ‘triable either way’. This means that your offence may be dealt with either by the Magistrates’ Court or tried before a jury in the Crown Court.

There are advantages and disadvantages for either a trial in the Magistrates’ Court or in the Crown Court. We can advise you of your options and help you in either scenario. Sometimes you are able to decide whether your matter should be heard in either the Magistrates’ Court or Crown Court and we can provide you with the information you need to make the right decision.

To arrange an appointment to discuss with our specialist lawyers David Williams or Emma Bateman please contact either of our Litigation Department secretaries Viki Summers or Claire Cartmell.
