If You are Pleading Guilty or Might be Found Guilty

One of the most important services that we offer our clients is to provide a ‘plea in mitigation’ on their behalf. If you decide to plead guilty or it is thought that you might be found guilty, we can explain to the Court why a more lenient sentence or a particular sentence may be more appropriate in your circumstances.

We present your plea in mitigation to the Court by drawing the Court’s attention to various factors that may be relevant, for example, genuine remorse, whether you have a relevant previous criminal history, and any inadvertent circumstances which may have led to you committing the offence.

We find that presenting the Court with a thoughtful plea in mitigation can really make a difference as to what sentence is imposed on our clients and can reduce periods of disqualification and fines.

Many clients find that their circumstances may be suitable to be used for a plea in mitigation. To review your case or for advice on submitting a plea in mitigation please contact us.
