Nick joined DC Kaye & Co in March 2019 having worked in the area for many years as a partner at a well-known commercial law practice.

He has more than 35 years’ experience of heavyweight commercial litigation cases across a broad range of sectors and has a strong reputation for winning claims for contract disputes, professional negligence claims, corporate disputes, partnership and joint venture disputes, intellectual property disputes, fraud claims, and construction disputes.

With a successful track record for winning high profile cases, Nick acts for national and international clients as well as established businesses in the South East.

High profile cases include the award of substantial damages against the BBC in the High Court which is a reported decision regarding the effect of a variation of a letter of intent in a project for the installation of an integrated centrally controlled software access system – AC Controls Ltd v British Broadcasting Corporation. Citation: EWHC 3132 (TCC) and [2003] 89 Con LR 52 TCC.

Other high profile cases include defending a claim for £4.5 million against the former owner of a local London football club, and defending a claim for substantial damages under a franchise agreement through international arbitration.

Legal bible Chambers UK has named him as a ‘Leading Individual’ consistently since 2005 and recently described him as a “highly intellectual and accomplished” lawyer who, according to clients, “always understands commercial realities and practicalities”.

Nick is well regarded for providing commercially focused and practical guidance to businesses and to individuals and winning favourable terms of settlement wherever appropriate in order to save unnecessary costs being incurred.

Aside from his main areas of work Nick is a also a CEDR accredited and experienced mediator, having acted as the mediator in over 50 mediations, with a very high rate of success, and as a mediation advocate for clients at mediations.

Chambers UK has identified him as a ‘Named Mediator” nationally for the last six years, with clients describing him as “firm but appropriately sensitive”.

Nick has been a school governor for many years and is an active member of a local Rotary Club.

Nick has completed the 3 Peaks Challenge 4 times in recent years, and enjoys pilates, spinning and tennis.

Nick lives in Coleshill with Carol, his wife, and they have 2 adult children.
