Redundancy (employers)

It is an unfortunate fact that due to a change in the economic climate, business needs or changes to a business many Employers are faced with making the difficult decision to make their Employees redundant.

Even in the best of circumstances the process of making an Employee redundant will be an unsettling and upsetting experience for Employee and Employer alike. It is vital that Employers follow the correct procedure when making Employees redundant otherwise even a genuine redundancy may be held by an Employment Tribunal to be an Unfair Dismissal.

Redundancy procedures are often scrutinised very closely by Employees and their legal advisers, perhaps due to the fact that the compensation for an unfair dismissal can be for much more than the Employee’s statutory entitlement on being made redundant.

DC Kaye & Co Solicitors provide advice to Employers on the correct procedure that must be followed to limit the likelihood of an employment claim being made against the Employer.
